Edmonton, Alberta, Canada (ContentDesk) September 21, 2005 -- Victims of Hurricane Katrina will receive emergency aid this month from an international organization of travel and tourism professionals. The International Federation of Women's Travel Organizations (IFWTO) has received donations, offers of accommodations, and employment opportunities for members of IFWTO living in the area hit by Katrina.
IFWTO Chairman Lyn Gamboa, of the Philippines, says all chapters worldwide helped organize aid for the 50 members and their families of Mid-South Women in Tourism in New Orleans.
She says IFWTO has never, in its 37-year history, had so many members affected by a disaster of this magnitude.IFWTO works to improve and make more effective the status of women within the travel industry through the exchange of ideas and personal participation.
The organization also works to further promote international goodwill and understanding.
"We are all very concerned about the health and welfare of all those suffering the aftermath of the disaster.

Public Hearing about the Five Cuban imprisoned in the United States for Fighting against Terrorist Organizations in Miami
(ContentDesk) May 5, 2004 --The Commissions on Constitutional and Judicial Affairs and International Relations of the National Assembly of People's Power of the Republic of Cuba is calling for a public hearing next May 10 to evaluate the present situation of the Five Cubans imprisoned in the United States. The hearing will be held in the Convention Center of Havana at 8:00 PM.
Cuban institutions, as well as jurists, intellectuals, students, journalists, union members from Cuba and from abroad will be present.
Also participating will be the attorneys for the defense and the family members of the Five. Amongst the topics to evaluate is the present legal posture of the case (by Leonard Weinglass, attorney for Antonio Guerrero), as well as the constant difficulties confronted by the Cuban Five and their families regarding their civil rights.
